The CHS Community Action Committee will sponsor
two fundraisers to support community causes. Stop in and check
them out!
Great Jeans Give-Away
CAC and the Mental Health
Association in Fulton and Montgomery Counties sponsored the Great
Jeans Give-Away on Thursday, Mar. 4 and
Friday, Mar. 5 at Canajoharie High School.
Students and staff contributed 134 pairs of
blue jeans (men's women's, kids', or infants') that CAC passed on to two local charities
selected by our students—Valley Alliance Church and
"Handy
Ups and Downs Thrift Shop" for their clothing giveaways.
As a bonus, each contributor received a raffle ticket
for each pair of jeans donated to enter one of several
raffles. Prizes included an IPod mini, Pampered Chef gift
bag, Avon gift bag, and Tastefully Simple gift bag.
The Great Jeans Give-Away is an
international event in schools, colleges and other venues to
promote the acceptance of natural, genetic body types and
sizes. It is a message to combat the rarely attainable and
unrealistic “ideal” images promoted by the media.
The day's motto is, "Be comfortable in your
genes. Wear jeans that fit the TRUE you.” In other words,
resist trying to weigh less than your natural (genetically
programmed) healthy body weight everyone has a range- and
wear the size jeans that fit.
