Cougar spring sports teams wrap up successful
seasons
Lady Cougars softball, Cougars baseball, and Cougars
track teams finished up one of the best spring sports season
Canajoharie High School has seen in recent years.
The girls softball team finished the regular season
second in the WAC South with a 7-3 league record and 11-7 overall.
They entered the Class CC tournament as the #5 seed earning a bye in
the first round. They fell to Maple Hill 7-3 in the quarterfinal
round.
The boys baseball team celebrated on of its best
seasons in 35 years. Also finished second in the WAC South with a
12-7 overall record. The Cougars put together a steady string of
performances over the next three games winning 2-1 versus Cambridge,
7-3 versus Hoosick Falls, and 7-0 versus Chatham to capture the
school's first Section II baseball title. One rough inning against
Greenwich in the Section II Class CC-C title game brought the
Cougar's season to an end 7-3.
The Canajoharie boys and girls track teams were
competitive throughout the season. Several school records fell. New
record-holders include:
Discus - Joe Mazzerella
100m - Max Prime
Pole Vault - Taylor Macci
200m - Pete Schwab
4 x 100m relay - Max Prime, Nick Sitterly, Dominic Mazzerella,
